10th grade in Barcelona

Here is the report from our grade 10 students:

Last week, after our IGCSE exams and as a farewell from Spanish classes, we students from Grade 10 had the opportunity to spend five days in Barcelona.

We travelled there with Mr. Béla and Mrs. Pérez from Nuremberg Airport. After arriving at the Barcelona Airport, we took the subway to the hostel. In the evening, we enjoyed our free time in the mall and had the chance to have a meal together and go shopping.

On Tuesday morning, we went through a tough 4-hour sightseeing tour by foot through the historic city center (with Roman, Medieval and Renaissance buildings). We also visited plenty of shops there and had the chance to buy some souvenirs. After that, we went on a boat trip through the harbor.

The next day, we visited Camp Nou, which is the biggest European soccer stadium, with a capacity for about 100.000 spectators. Afterwards, we started our bus tour and went to the area of the city which holds examples of Art Nouveau, such as the Sagrada Família cathedral or the Parc Güell. And finally we made our way to the beach to relax and play some volleyball.

On Thursday, we continued our bus tour and admired many exotic fish species as well as some sharks at the Aquarium. Furthermore, we had lunch together at “The Room”, a restaurant at the “Port Olímpic”. In the afternoon, we walked over to the beach to enjoy our time as a class, where we took a refreshing swim and played volleyball together. When our sports time was over, we headed to the city center for a shopping session. The highlight of the day was the fountain show of “La Font Màgica”, including colorful lights and heart-pounding music. And finally, we were privileged to observe a lunar eclipse and enjoy the fireworks accompanying it.

The last morning in Barcelona started off with packing, followed by leaving the beautiful, historical city center. We finalized our trip by attending the Graduation Ceremony of the 12th graders at ISM.

This journey was a great chance for us to get to know some more of the Spanish culture, grow as a team and to become closer friends.
